Who Is Queen Jass?
Jasmine, known as Queen Jass is an upcoming rapper and songwriter from a small town called Huntsville, Texas. She started off writing poems in the 5th & 6th grade. While in classes, instead of doing her class work she was too busy in her own world writing poems at her desk. In her Language Arts class, they were told to write a poem. After that, Jasmine was the one to finish her poem last.
With her being as talented as she is, the teacher asked to keep her poem to show the other teachers in the school. When coming back to school the next day, she was asked by teachers if she would write a poem with her name at the bottom because they wanted to frame it in their classrooms. In 7th grade she was in class writing a poem when she wasn’t supposed to be, then dropped it on the floor at the end of class.
Her teacher had ended up finding it when class was over. Next day in class, the teacher was reading it to the class before Jasmine realized it was her poem. After class the teacher had told Jasmine that she believed she would be a successful singer if she turned her poems into music. Jasmine said that she was very unsure about the situation until getting home. She stayed up on a school night at the age of 12 writing a poem turning it into a song.
“I wasn’t a big fan of music when I was writing poems at first. I never listened to anybody music really. Until finishing my first song I told myself I should start listening to music to get inspired, to see if it's something I'll love to do. After listening to a bunch of artists the only one who caught my attention and that actually stuck with me was Nicki Minaj. After listening to her album Roman Reloaded I was in love with her. She was my first poster I ever had and Roman Reloaded was the first CD I ever bought. After that it was a wrap. Nicki was the one who inspired me and she was my role model. I wanted to be like her, rap like her and everything. Nicki Minaj is the goat. I know if I work hard I’ll be successful like her. In due time.”
